25th Delhi Book Fair 2019

The Federation of Indian Publishers, has been associating with India Trade Promotion Organisation, in organizing the Delhi Book Fair since 1995 which provides the big opportunity to Indian publishers to expose their books through vast number of readers. The 25th edition of Delhi Book Fair was held from September 11-15, 2019 in the Hall No. 7 D, E and FGH at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. To commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the theme of this year’s book fair was 150 Years of Mahatma Gandhi. Various activities were planned around the theme in association with Government departments and NGOs to carry forward ideology of Mahatma Gandhi.

Over 140 exhibitors displayed books and publications. The book fair features a wide range of fiction and non -fiction, academic books. Besides children’s literature, classics and other categories of publications including digital innovations.

A number of book reading sessions, seminars, and cultural programmes by various students of Universities and institutions were held.during the book fair. College days were planned and students from cultural societies of different colleges gave performances.A drawing competition for students of MCD schools was organized on 12 September 2019. The theme for the competition was life of Mahatma Gandhi. Children were asked to draw anything that relates to Mahatma Gandhi. Around 450 students from various MCD schools participated in the drawing competition. Mrs. Varsha Joshi, Commissioner of North Delhi Municipal Corporation and Ms. Mamta Nagpal, Member, Education Committee, North Delhi Municipal Corporation presented the awards to the winners.

The major attractions of this year’s book fair were selfie point with Mahtama Gandhi and hands on charka. The stall named “AAIYE AAP BHI SUT KATIYE” at the book fair gave spectators a chance to spin charkha.

FIP was instrumental in keeping the visitor entry free to the book fair for the second consecutive year.
